Thanks for the Letters & Poems

I would like to thank all of the people who have taken the time to write or e-mail me. It really makes my day to hear that I have helped to make your visit more enjoyable and memorable. This week I would like to share with you some poems and verses that have been written about and sent to me. Again, thanks to you all.

From Jaqui and Gary Jacobs, Aztec, New Mexico: Cheyenne-Her eyes speak to your spirit and her soul can touch your soul; This creature of the wilderness, compassion is her role. She lets you sense her nature and invites you to her clan; A lady wolf of beauty, a friend we call Cheyenne.

From Marie Cole, Littleton, Colorado: Cheyenne-Wisdom is in her eyes. They reflect the ages of misunderstanding and mistrust put upon her. Yet she prevails, knowing that the Creator put her here for a purpose to fulfill with dignity. May we learn from her and admire her for her beauty, her devotion to family, and her persistence through adversity cast upon her by ignorance.

From a little girl named Sophie who lives in England: Cheyenne-There was a young wolf named Cheyenne, Who lived in a very big den, When she pulled on her chain it started to rain, That very cute wolf named Cheyenne!

From Shaun McMillin, Denver, Colorado: Miss Cheyenne-I walked to school today, Guess what I saw? She was MAGNIFICENT! Two eyes, some fur, and four lovely paws. She came up to greet me with a gentle smile, Immediately I knew her cause. As soon as she appeared, she was gone by a mile. I walked to school today, Guess who was still here? My four legged friend. The wind was blowing through her hair, She gave to me a quick lick, then ran back to her den. We were such a pair! I walked to school today, Guess what I could hear? She is evil! Do not allow her to come so near! Evil I cried! No! Evil is spreading your fear! My friend came near. She sniffed the quivering human and quietly went on her way. Can you see now? She is NOT evil, You have misunderstood! People one by one came to see, A new friend not to fear, but one that is good. Hopefully now she can live in peace in our mountain neighborhood. I walked to school today, HOORAY! They have left her to be. My four legged friend came up and licked me. We walked a bit but not too far, She let me know she had to go. I was glad to know That it is possible for the two legged and four legged To live in HARMONY! This is her key that sets us free!

From Dad: Ode to Cheyenne-If the golden fields of wheat had another name, I know what it would be. If the tall majestic redwoods or a warm ocean breeze had another name, I know what it would be. If a valley full of springtime flowers had another name, I know what it would be. If a cool, clear spring fed river or the snow capped mountains had another name, I know what it would be. If the beauty of the earth, the glory of the sky, the vastness of the sea, or the swiftness of the wind, had another name, I know what it would be. It would be thee.
