Howls in new format.

Probably the most often asked question that I get is, " What do you eat"? Now that all depends on who is asking the question, and what kind of mood I am in. If it is a Californian asking, then I tell them, Texans. If it is a Texan asking, then I tell them Californians. (You did not know that a wolf born in Arizona could have a Colorado sense of humor?) Now let's get serious, and food is a very serious subject with me.
I have two main meals each day, and I snack throughout the day. This is far better than my cousins in the wild. They often go without food for many days. It is usually feast or famine for them. They have less than a ten per cent hunting success rate. I made sure that I had it in my contract exactly when and what I was to be fed before I agreed to work at the Gallery. First and most important, meat is a major part of my diet. I enjoy chicken, slabs of beef, steak, hamburger, lamb, cats and dogs. Whoops, I was not supposed to say that last part. If you are a regular reader of my column you will remember that I get all of my chicken and beef at Safeway in Idaho Springs. I am a good girl and I only play with cats and dogs. This last week my new friend Lori has been bringing me scraps of all kinds of great tasting meats from the Buckley Store in Silver Plume. Thank you Lori and every one else at Buckley's.
Besides many pounds of raw meat each week, I go through a bag of baked potatoes, six to seven gallons of cooked rice and/or pasta, ten pounds of carrots, five to six pounds of plain yogurt, a half bag of apples and/or oranges, a vitamin B complex tablet each day, some bone meal, and vegetable oil. Whenever I can I also eat tomatoes, celery, cucumbers, cauliflower, bell peppers, all kinds of melons, bananas, and grapes. I will not eat broccoli, instead I'll bury it. I can not eat any commercial dog food without having to gulp down a gallon of Pepto Bismol. I have been trying to get some sweet rolls from Sopp and Truscott but Dad won't share with me. Some day....
I would also like to try one of those buffalo burgers at the KP Cafe. Ted, I like it on the rare side, and Kris, any fixen's that you want to put with it, I will accept, but no broccoli. Be sure and put it on my Dads account.
Dad is getting upset with me. All this talk about food is making me hungry and I am beginning to drool all over the key board. He hates it when the keys start sticking. What do you mean you can't stick it in the dishwasher?
DID YOU KNOW?
*As of December 1996, 52 wolves inhabited Yellowstone Park and adjacent national forest lands.
That is all for now. Thanks again to Lori and all my new friends at the Buckley Store for all of the treats. Charlene, thanks for bringing Timber by to visit.
